Seorang prajurit Perang Salib yang heroik (Nicolas Cage) dan sahabatnya (Ron Perlman) kembali ke rumah setelah puluhan tahun pergi bertempur, namun kemudian menemukan dunia mereka hancur oleh wabah. Para tetua Gereja yakin bahwa seorang gadis yang dituduh sebagai seorang penyihir bertanggung jawab atas kehancuran itu.
